Lafarge UAE signs a MOU with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment UAE, regarding the use of alternative fuel derived from municipal solid waste (RDF) in cement plants.

In line with our commitment and continued efforts towards sustainability, Lafarge UAE has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment UAE.

The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Climate Change and Environment UAE - Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri - regarding the use of alternative fuel derived from municipal solid waste (RDF) at Lafarge Emirates Cement.

Olivier Milhaud, GM of Lafarge Emirates Cement says, “By signing the RDF MOU with the MOCCAE, Lafarge Emirates Cement, a member of Holcim Group, consistently with the adherence to the UAE Private Sector Pledge signed on 29 August 2022, is demonstrating once again its strong commitment to reach Net Zero by 2050, and to Build Progress for the People and the Planet while supporting all innovations and initiatives leading to a reduction of the carbon footprint in the areas of manufacturing, product design and transportation”

Usman Tarar, Head of Geocycle UAE says, “At Lafarge UAE - member of Holcim group, we work towards building progress for people and the planet. This project will be playing a key role to support the emirates of Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, to divert their waste from the landfill and is an important milestone towards achieving our Sustainability goals.”
