Clean Up Campaign with Fujairah Municipality
LEC and Geocycle participated in the clean-up campaign organized by Fujairah Municipality, in Al Tawyeen, on the 20th Feb 2020.
665 tons of waste collected by 2,200 volunteers in the campaign "bisawaeidikum Ajmal” at the end of the activities of the National Environment Day, the 23rd session of 2020 under the slogan “Nature-based solutions”.
The campaign aims to enhance environmental awareness of the importance of keeping our environment clean, and raising a sense of social responsibility by engaging all members of society, and focusing on solutions based on nature, that protect and manage natural ecosystems sustainably, and addresses societal challenges, consequently, it provides benefits for human well-being and biodiversity as well.
The campaign included several interactive workshops on its first day at the first site on the beach of umbrellas, which targeted more than 1,200 participants from different students and groups of society from various regions of the Emirate of Fujairah, the second site targeted 250 participants in the Masafi area, behind the Friday market, and 250 participants in the third site in the celebration area of Al-Tawyeen, and more than 500 participants from companies and factories in the emirate, in a march in which national efforts came together to implement the Emirates strategy of the importance of spreading awareness, promoting sustainable environmental behaviors, and expanding their awareness by using the best methods for preserving the environment and its natural resources.
The campaign targets 15 vital sites this year from the emirate, which is the beach of umbrellas in Al Faseel, the Friday market area in Masafi, and the Al-Tawyeen area behind the Iranian market, and the Rugailat farms, Sakamkam farms, and industrial areas in Al-Hail, Ain Al Ghamour, Farouj Al-Wadi, Al-Ferfar Valley, Old Qidfa, Old Murbah, industrial areas in Thawban, Dam Al-Tawyeen and industrial areas in Al- Tawyeen. Other sponsors included Fujairah Asia Power Company, Fujairah Gold, Al Ahli Plastic Industries, Simcorp Gulf, Fujairah National Group, Batco Group, Al Fahd Transport, Oryx Transport, Sahara General Transport, Fujseng Contraction, Al Atlas Gen Transport, ENERCO Contracting, Lulu Hypermarket, Sajida Supermarket, KM Trading, Drop Water, Al Khayam Bakery, Al Ittihad Bakery, Zamzam Water, Lacnor and Choithrams.
